COMPARE.THE.PEPTIDE

How it works

One record per peptide. The same rows for every peptide. Blank where nothing is established.

What each row means

Class

The family the registry files the peptide under: a GLP-1 receptor agonist, a growth-hormone secretagogue, a Khavinson bioregulator, a thymic peptide, and so on. Two peptides in the same class are the ones most worth reading side by side.

Also known as

Synonyms, trade names and codes the same molecule travels under, so a search for a code finds the record.

Chain length and molecular weight

The number of amino-acid residues in the curated sequence, and the mass in daltons. For a modified peptide the mass is the whole molecule; the residue count is the backbone only.

Half-life and route

How long the peptide persists in the body as reported in the record, and the route it is given by. Where the record holds no figure the cell is blank.

Studied for, research use, what has been shown

Three different things: the conditions a peptide has been studied for; the questions it is used to investigate; and the effects that have actually been reported. They are kept apart on purpose.

How it works

The mechanism as the record describes it: receptor, pathway, tissue.

Record depth

How much the registry holds on the peptide: sparse, moderate or substantial. It describes the record, not the peptide's worth.

Where the data comes from

Every peptide is one entry in a single curated registry, and every entry carries the sources it was built from: published literature, product information leaflets, public registries such as PubChem and the NCATS Global Substance Registration System, and supplier documents. Each line of the record is labelled with the kind of source behind it. When sources disagree, the record keeps the disagreement visible instead of averaging it away. When nothing is established, the line stays blank. The snapshot date is printed in the footer of every page.

What the site does not do

It does not sell anything, list vendors, rank peptides, score them, or recommend one over another. It does not estimate a missing value to fill a cell. It does not give medical advice.
