Trust badges: what each one means, and how a shop earns it

Shops' own pages declare purity, origin, certificates and lab work. This site shows beside every shop what it has itself checked, in four levels, and publishes exactly what evidence each level takes. A declaration is never shown as verified until it has been.

The four levels

  • Unverified Read from the shop's own pages. Prices, quantities, formats and any purity or test claim are what the shop publishes; this site has checked nothing about the shop yet. Most shops start here.
  • Claimed The shop claimed its listing and proved it controls its domain (a confirmation link sent to an address on that domain, and a token on its site). It now answers for its own data, can declare its role (manufacturer, lyophiliser, liquid filler, reseller) and can send a price feed. Its declarations are still its own.
  • Documents on file The shop supplied documents at its claim: certifications with the page where each can be read, its company registration with the register page. This site has read them and links them; it has not audited them.
  • ✔︎ CTP Verified The most demanding mark on this site, and the only one bound to the batch on sale. Independent third-party test reports whose batch numbers are the batch numbers of the products on sale, the manufacturing technology explained and evidenced, a working laboratory proven, manufacturing records showing the shop makes what it sells rather than relabelling imported vials, provenance of the raw peptide documented, company registration checked, anonymous re-purchase testing on record. Reviewed by the site's operator, re-verified every twelve months, withdrawn in public if a batch fails an independent test or a record proves false. Nothing on this site is stated with more certainty than this badge, because nothing else has been checked as far.

The badge is not a regulatory approval and not a guarantee of any product. It says what this site has seen. Where a review turns out to be wrong, the badge is corrected and the correction is published.

Documents and the batch on sale: the disclaimer

A certificate of analysis or a test report a shop shows on its site, or sends to this site, is not necessarily bound to the batch you buy. Shops publish a report once and sell many batches after it. Below CTP Verified, this site cannot know whether the vial in your hand is from the batch the document describes; it shows the document as the shop's own, says so, and shows beside every product what the page itself states about the batch: lot number, manufacture date, expiry date, each marked MISSING when the page does not state it. CTP Verified is the level where the batch numbers on sale are matched to the independent reports and re-tested by anonymous purchase; that is what makes it the most certain thing on this site.

Provenance: where the peptide was made

Every shop carries an origin line: where the raw peptide was synthesised and where it was lyophilised or filled, and by whom. Four states:

  • Presumed: the shop has supplied nothing. The line reads MISSING, presumed synthesised and lyophilised in China, the usual origin of undocumented peptide. It is a presumption, named as one, and the shop can replace it with evidence at any time.
  • Declared: the shop stated at its claim where the peptide is synthesised and where it is processed, and what it does itself (synthesise and lyophilise, lyophilise imported peptide, fill imported peptide as liquid, resell finished product). Shown as the shop's own words, not verified.
  • Documented: the shop supplied the supplier invoices, import papers and processing records that show the declared chain. Read by this site.
  • Verified: the chain has been checked in the CTP Verified process, laboratory and records seen. A UK laboratory that buys its raw peptide from China and lyophilises it here is shown exactly so; a laboratory that synthesises, lyophilises and fills from A to Z is shown exactly so. Neither is hidden, and neither is dressed up.

The same door for every shop

Every shop on this site can apply, at any level, at no cost, and is read by the same process against the same list. The badges say what has been checked, not who a shop is. A shop that passes is shown as passed; a shop that has not applied is shown as unverified, which is a fact about this site's knowledge, not a judgement of the shop.

How a shop earns CTP Verified: the evidence pack

Write to hello@comparethepeptide.org from an address on the shop's domain, with the items below. The site's operator reads everything, asks what is unclear, and may buy product anonymously for re-testing. Nothing is charged, at any level, ever.

1. Who you are

  1. The registered company: name, number and the public register page; the people responsible for quality, by name and role.
  2. The physical address of the laboratory or filling site, and proof the company operates there (lease or utility bill in the company's name, dated within the last year).
  3. Your shop's claimed listing on this site (the Claimed level first), so the badge binds to a domain you control.

2. The laboratory exists and works

  1. Dated photographs or a live video walk-through of the laboratory, with the equipment in frame: the freeze-dryer, the analytical instruments (HPLC, mass spectrometer), the filling area, storage.
  2. The equipment list with makes, models and serial numbers, and the latest calibration or service records for the analytical instruments.
  3. Agreement to a visit, announced or not, by the site's operator or a person it names.

3. You make what you sell

  1. Batch manufacturing records for three recent batches of products listed on this site: the raw peptide's origin (your own synthesis records, or the supplier's invoice and certificate of analysis), the lyophilisation or filling records with dates and operators, the fill and closure records, label artwork and the lot numbers that tie them together.
  2. If raw material is imported: the import documents, and a plain statement of what is bought ready-made and what is done in your laboratory. A shop that buys finished vials and labels them is a reseller and is shown as one; that is an honest badge too.
  3. The procedures you follow (how you clean, how you fill, how you release a batch), as written documents.

4. Independent testing

  1. Third-party analytical reports from a named independent laboratory for current batches: identity by mass spectrometry, purity by HPLC, endotoxin, sterility where the product is presented as sterile, residual water for lyophilised products; batch numbers matching the products on sale.
  2. The laboratory's contact, so the reports can be confirmed with it directly.
  3. Agreement that this site may buy your product anonymously and have it tested at an independent laboratory, and that the result is published whichever way it goes.

5. The technology, explained and evidenced

  1. A plain description of how your products are made: how the peptide is freeze-dried (on a shelf, in a cartridge, otherwise), how the container is closed (air, vacuum, inert gas), what the reconstitution liquid is, what the container is and what the kit holds.
  2. Evidence for each statement that the ranking uses (records, photographs, the maker's technical pages). The container facts this site ranks by are read from that evidence, not from a product title.

6. Keeping the badge

  1. Re-verification every twelve months, with fresh independent test reports.
  2. Any batch failing an independent test, any record found false, or any refusal of a visit: the badge is withdrawn and the withdrawal is published on the shop's row.
  3. Changes of ownership, site or process are reported to this site within thirty days.

Shops at the Claimed or Documents-on-file level that want the top badge can send the pack in parts; the badge changes only when the pack is complete. Questions before applying are welcome at the same address.
