What has been shownBroad-spectrum antimicrobial activity (Gram+, Gram-, fungi, some viruses); LPS neutralization and endotoxin protection; Enhanced wound healing and angiogenesis; Biofilm disruption
How it worksLL-37 is the only human cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide, a 37-amino acid cationic amphipathic α-helical peptide. It disrupts bacterial cell membranes by forming oligomeric channels, neutralizes lipopolysaccharide (LPS) endotoxin, and modulates immune responses. Residues 13-34 form the amphipathic helix responsible for membrane insertion.
Patent statusvarious derivative patents
Regulatory statusresearch; no FDA approval for injectable use
